So, I wanted to start this blog to help support my writing. I will be publishing my first book on Kindle this weekend and to be honest its quite nerve racking. Physically manifesting the stories in your head and then allowing other’s to have access to those stories is terrifying. How will my creation be received? Will only a small handful ever read it, let alone enjoy it?
I feel like self publishing is even more nerve racking than the traditional route with an agent and publisher. At least when you have someone willing to represent you or invest money to getting your work out there you are already receiving validation that you’ve got something good. With self publishing it’s all up in the air. You are your own cheerleader; you have to encourage yourself.
You also have to figure out how to get a good cover. Thankfully, I stumbled across a website called The Book Cover Designer to help with that because I have no graphic design skills or knowledge what so ever. This site is full of premade covers from talented designers and all you have to do is find the cover that works for your book! I picked a cover by this designer who was a pleasure to work with and made the process seamless.
After much confusion, research, anxiety, and excitement my first book, Solace is now available for preorder!
Fingers crossed it does okay!
